While doing some work on the 8N I had the steering box off
and found this washer in the bottom of the housing behind the
clutch. It seems to run fine, shift well, does anyone recognize
this piece?

Looks like part of a starter bendix.
It's pretty common to have them break apart and the parts fall down into the clutch housing. They generally don't hurt anything laying down in the bottom so people leave them there till the next time the tractor gets split.

Thanks Guys, I hadn't considered starter parts. When I found it below the clutch I automatically thought It must be a clutch part, but the starter totally makes sense.

Looks like the 1 of a kind Cyclone 2000.

Thanks! I guess it would be called a pre-filter. Its an old style round paper element, I really don't know the history, it was on the tractor when I bought it. I had the tractor at work one
winter, the paint booth was pretty useful after hours.

Glad to see a fellow wrench on here, I’ve only been at it for
30+ years myself. Choppers pay the bills but tractors are fun.
:)
