NAA 134 vs 172 engine?

How can I tell if my Jubilee has the 134 or the 172 engine? I am suspicious that the engine is not original to the tractor.

Thanks,

Factory it would in fact be the 134. As for telling for sure there are casting codes that would tell you but I do not have any idea what or where they are on the block

The original 134 block would have an EAE 6015 ? casting number on the right side. An early 172 is EAF 6015 ?. Ford changed the casting numbers several times during the 1953-1964 production run. What is your casting number?

That's definitely a 134 as indicated by the EAE. Look over on the left side of the block, rear corner, just above the oil pan rail. Do you see a three character code starting with a numeral 3 or 4 cast into the block? That code will tell you the exact day the block was cast.

Not sure if this is the right code or not.

On the left side, center of the block, just above the oil pan rail is the number 2. It is preceded by a vertical line and followed by a horizontal line. So it reads vertical, 2, horizontal. There do not seem to be any numbers at the back of the block.

Is this number in the same size "font" as the EAE on the other side?

Thanks,

-Dave
