NAA battery box

I'm sure someone will get a good laugh, but for me nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Anyone have a good condition original battery box for the NAA. It may be that other models used the same. A few years back I bought a aftermarket one, of course missing the captive nuts and hold down bracket and solenoid Brkt. bolts. Disappointing. Any of you NAA renovators use a aftermarket Bbox and did you like it ? Difference in thickness also 1/32".

FORD part number C0NN-10732-T, used from 53-64 - all the same. Den Carp makes an exact-as-original repop, $80. Also makes the battery cover, NAA-5162 and hold down bolts. Look in your 53-59 MPC for whatever hardware you need. I don't know anything about a solenoid bracket.

Thanks Tim
I have that reproduction box (tray). Yes, I suspect it will fit as that is the only type I've seen all over the web. But it is not an exact replica. The steel gage is 1/32 thinner, it's missing the captive nuts and the two splined 5/16-24 panhead bolts that hold the solenoid. I cannot find any closeup pictures of the reproduction box installed nor comments from anyone who has used this box. And I'm holding, maybe a fools hope, of finding someone having a decent original Batt. Box for the NAA.

Thank you Arlen.
If it's in better shape than mine I'll pay whatever you want. As with some other parts I've bought, I'm just not happy with the differences between original and Repro. Thought I'd better include this Pict. The bottom ain't pretty, but what one would expect for 68 years old.

DC makes parts exact-as-original as he owns much of the original FORD tooling they used; he went out and found it and bought it. How did you figure a 1/32 thinner? Sheet
metal is measured in gauges, like wire sizes. I find it hard to believe the DC unit is 1/32 thinner - that's .030 of an inch, and almost a full millimeter for you
metric guys, thinner than the original. I don't buy it. You can find OEM used parts all the time on fleabay. You can get hardware from McMaster-Carr. Moot points since
it seems you find a one.

Hi Tim and thanks for he input.

Seeing is believing. Using a bench grinder wire wheel I removed paint from both original and Reprod (both sides). All other variables notwithstanding, I used normal pressure on the ten thousands Mic. As best I can tell it's about .0296" difference. The sheet metal gauge chart is from the web. It's Standard thickness. Not plated nor stainless. Chart columns are gauge, inches, mm. Do you actually have a NAA with original battery box ?

i picked one up from another N parts place and i do not have full range of throttle now. all the bolts line up the air intake lines up perfect but the oil cup on the air cleaner is in the way for the throttle linkage.

Hi Doug. If possible a close up picture would be helpful. As far as I can tell the locating holes appear to be correct but I haven't tried to mount the Reprod one as everything is still apart.

I will try and grab a few pictures tonight. I'm not sure how to post pictures on here but ill see what I can do.

Two Oaks, you seem to be stating that there is one and one only repop and that every parts place sells the same one. Well I have to disagree. I have been buying parts for my old Fords since waaaay before internet and waaaay after many became NLA from NH, (I am talking before CNH). I have purchased some sheet metal parts that have been stamped from lighter gauge steel, but pretty much everything that I have gotten from DC has been indistinguishable from OEM. Some small parts that they stock do come from other sources and may not be faithful reproductions.

Hey thanks for the reply

I've posted the pictures of my original battery box. It still has the patent sticker on it. I mean come on, They aren't the same. Post a picture of yours and maybe I'll be convinced that yours is OEM and the dirty rotten one I have was replaced some years ago I guess. At least direct me to the retailer that sells the one (OEM) I'm looking for please.
