NAA Coil Failure

its a 6volt. never changed. the coil has built in resistor. i dont remember seeing any plus or minus on the coil i will remove it and look again. positive ground never changed. in this case, if it had a plus side that wire would be toward the distrib. so that helps somewhat. i guess by what your saying, it does matter which side gets what wire. stupid china replacements...
They will run either way, but usually one way gives a better spark then the other. On Positive ground the + will go to the distributor.

There is no resistor inside a current coil. The resistance a coil has is determined by the size and number of wire windings inside it.

The wrong condenser can have an effect on point life, as can the actual resistance of the coil. You can check the coil's resistance with an ohmmeter between the small (primary) terminals. It should be about 1.5 ohms for a 6-volt coil.

ok good . runs either way.l the trac trying to crank now. old points burned up early thought might be coil backwards. lil fine tuning on point settings should do it. thanks to everyone.
