NAA gaskets

Hello all. I purchased a 1954 NAA tractor about 2-1/2 years ago. It was in very sad shape and I've been taking it apart and cleaning the paint/rust off of all of the parts. Now is the time to start to put the parts back together. I'm starting with the center housing, rear axles first and because I don't want fluid to leak out, I'd like to know if I should use something like Permatex on all of the surfaces as I put the gaskets on or should the gaskets seal the surfaces without any sealant.

Thanks,
Harvey Everett

I rarely use anything but the bare gasket. If, however there is a situation where the gasket could slip out of place during assembly and cause a problem, I will use Permatex High Tack aerosol on one side only. I put it on whichever side faces the smaller part. There are also rare situations where you know that there needs to be a little give between major parts. In that situation I will use regular permatex, again on the smaller part. It needs to be put on sparingly.
