Naa Governor

I am replacing the seals in the governor cover. The needle bearings have worn into the shaft. I wish I could just but a new shaft but not having any luck finding much of anything about the NAA Governor. I checked the shaft for hardness with a file and it appears the shaft is not hardened. Can anyone been through this or can suggest the best material to make one from.

I'd use Stressproof . But I'd have to have a machine shop make it for me if it had key ways in it.

Thanks, I looked up this metal and looks like it will be good for this. I ordered a foot of it from McMaster Carr.
