NAA questions

It has been a long time since I have needed help with my 53 NAA. Yall helped me to redo it about 5 years ago.

It was running fine when I parked it. I tried to start it with no success. Long story short - It had spark, but changed cap, rotor, points, condenser, coil. Had great spark now - It will just 1/2 inch to frame. I took the carb apart and cleaned it and the orifices. Put it back on. Checked flow - flows great. Checked compression at #1 - A little over 100. Still no start. It I put a teaspoon of gas in #1 I can get her to pop over like she wants to start. Kind of stuck - Could it be the intake- It won't even pop.
Thanks for ant advice in advance.

Spark sounds good..as you've replaced everything but the key.. and if it will jump 1/2".. that's pretty snappy.

Sounds like fuel delivery..

If you are thinking stuck valves, , do a thumb test on each cyl first.. then pull valve cover second, if needed.

If it poped on gas in a cyl.. then try starter fluid.. if it kicks on starter fluid.. get to cleaning that carb..

Pardon me, but you have not mentioned if you are(CHOKING)the engine when attempting to start as all engines need enrichment to start when cold unless the fuel system is running in a(flooding)condition. CENTAUR

I tried choking, tried not choking, tried with throttle slow medium fast. And combinations of above. I think I even tried green eggs and ham.

I will clean the carb again. Is there anything in the carb that I should look for that might not be letting the fumes rise?

To check for a stuck valve, I should be getting suction followed by blowing at the plug holes - correct?

Thanks

My best guess would be that you have flooded it, and contaminated the spark plugs.

Take them out, and heat the sparking end real good with a propane torch.

Open the throttle up wide open - no choke - and try it again. If valves are stuck open, you will notice it turning over much faster than normal, my guess is you flooded it.
