Not a farmer. Dumb question. However, where is the best place to buy standard replacement bolts? Hardware store? Automotive store? Redid the head on my 53 NAA and putting it back together. I want to replace the rusty/crusty bolts with new. Where do you get those? Thank you.

For regular grade 5 coarse thread hardware at Tractor Supply, sold by the pound. The problem will be if you need some of the "in between" lengths. Their stock is limited to 1/4" changes in length for some sizes and lengths. 1/2" changes in others. some hardware stores and auto parts stores will have grade 5 hardware priced per each.

Fastenal or other hardware place, maybe. Some will only sell bulk, pe-packed quantities, and/or have a required minimum order value.

Check around your area. Most of us can't tell you what is near you.

Take this with a grain of salt... a Google search says that the originals were "close to grade 5", whatever that means, but that most folks use grade 8 when replacing them.

I took "standard replacement bolts" to mean bolts other than head bolts, rod bolts, or main bearing cap bolts. If you were looking for those as well, I would agree with Sean and use grade 8. You can usually find those the same places as grade 5.

When he said "Redid the head and putting it back together" I assumed that he was asking about the head bolts, but that assumption might be incorrect..

Correct. Not the head, rod, etc. just the external bolts. Tractor lived by the ocean air. Lots or rust, crust, ugly. Wanted to put fresh hardware on it.

You might consider upgrading to studs. ARP is a source for studs, washers, and nuts. https://arp-bolts.com/

You're rebuilding your tractor and don't know where to buy regular bolts? Is that your question? Good luck with your project!

Are you being sarcastic? If so, why? If not, this is the perfect forum to ask questions. My questioned was answered and was helpful. I’m using the internet as intended; a place to ask and get info quickly. Thank you and be positive.
