NAA Unloading Valve

According to Zane, in a previous thread, the original unloading valve in the NAA lift was replaced in 1955 by a less troublesome valve with an o-ring seal.
I guess my tractor was one of those that never got upgraded (I still had the original glass, instead of steel, ball in the relief valve) Even though I took everything apart and polished, cleaned, etc. it still is leaking down and sticking.
If I wanted to upgrade to the new unloading valve what is entailed? Do I need a whole new cylinder assembly? Or can I maybe replace the bushing and the new valve in the existing assembly. It's hard to believe that in '55 and up every assembly was swapped out.

Part# 61 and part# 60 depict the newer unloading valve. Mine is all steel with no o-ring. I was wondering if I could replace my unloading valve with the newer one. Perhaps by also replacing part#62 bushing. Or would the whole cylinder unit need to be replaced

K, we are on the same page now, but.................I'm sorry I can't answer your question. All I remember is that the first ones were apparently recalled, but I do not know what they did in the recall to fix the problem & that would likely answer your question..Zane Sherman may be your best bet.

Thanks. My guess (take note that often my guesses are nowhere near reality) that in a recall situation Ford would just replace the bushings(part# 62) to fit the new unloading valves. But, you never know. It's possible that Ford replaced the whole cylinder unit then took all the old ones in and retooled them.

From what John Smith told me, only the first few thousand NAA's have the solid metal unloading valve, after that they used the one with the O Ring. I believe he said you could replace the bushing (#62) and the unloading valve but it might be a little costly. I think the bushing was about $150.00 a few years ago.

Lucky me! I'm in the select few. For $150.00 I can learn to live with the minor hiccup the lift now is displaying. Thanks
