Local Napa closed their doors, covered the windows..shut her down without notice last Friday or might have been Mon.this week..

Most NAPA's are franchises. Could have lost the franchise, lost his lease, or just went out of business. Tough to make it in today's economy. Thank you Goverment!!!!!

Have a similar story in my town. NAPA store closed a couple of years ago. The owner was a dour person who complained about the economy to every customer. New owners came in and are making a go of it. They are pleasant to deal with and work hard to please, their business is growing.

Most likely a franchised store and the owner had too much debt. Saw that happen a few years ago with a woman who inherited 2 fast food places free and clear.......then used em as collateral to build a 750,000 dollars lake home. Then to make matters worse started running to the casinos. Bank stepped in and took everything. One day the food places were open and the next were closed.''

32 years ago we had both a NAPA and an O'Reilly's in town. Knew the guy who owned the NAPA store back then and when his health went down hill he moved his store and from there it did not last long and he closed the door. So up till about 6 months ago we had an O'Reilly's and nothing else but we now have a auto zone which is pretty much a joke of a place. I have had a cash account with O'Reilly's for well over 25 years now and that sure does help the back pocket. But yep sad to see a store close down

The handwriting is on the wall for my local NAPA store as well.

Most shelves are nearly bare, and the owner simply orders everything that customers need.

Cannot be long now.

Thought we were about to loose ours but they just moved across town. I've had a hit and miss relationship with NAPA over the years. Used them a lot while I was with the county mostly because they were across the street form the courthouse. When I was a kid dad always used NAPA, mostly because one of his high school friends owned the local branch, some how or another he ended up taking over a few more, when he retired he was running 4 of them. Didn't have one after we moved to Michigan. Stopped using them when I was in Florida mostly because of the banker's hours they kept. In Tennessee they were convenient and gave me the same discount my employer got so I used them. Used them a few times in Green Bay while we lived there but they weren't convenient especially after they shut down their west side store.

Funny thing about the nearby NAPA, it has pretty much nothing -- not even a decent selection of bulbs or fuses -- on the racks, but they seem to have _everything_ in stock in back, even fairly obscure stuff. I"ve had to accustom myself to old-fashioned pre-self-service shopping, where one goes to the counter with a list and the salesperson goes and gets everything on it.

The high price of parts and sky high labor rates are making people buy new cars here.Fixed a fence charger for a customer. It cost him 400 bucks in labor at 72 bucks an hour to fix the front brakes on his Ford F150.A woman stopped by to borrow a big allen wrench to change her brake pads She said her Dad could not do the work any more but would talk her thru the job.I was away the next day, found the wrench and a 40 oz beer on the back steps when I came home.Saw her later, she said the new pads went on easy and saved her 100 bucks.

Our NAPA has been a joke for years. Always closed when I need them (most of us work 8-5 M-F and usually don't need parts until after 12 on Saturday). Managed to make it there at 11:00 this past Saturday to get a hydraulic hose made, and they didn't have 3/4" anything. No hose, fittings or even the dies to swage them on. Told me their sizes go from 1/2" - 1". Huh? Went across the street to the Case-IH dealership and they fixed me right up for $26.

I guess I shouldn"t have been surprized--this was in the lil ole one horse town where I work---a few fair sized businesses including the one I work--when they didn"t have a part they would get it over nite--I"m sure Advance auto parts hurt em bad--Advance has been there several yrs now..
