Need a welder part

I have an old Lincoln 225, and while switching current taps, I broke the plastic part that moves the tap changer. Easy to replace, but the local welding shop says it's available from Lincoln only as the complete tap changer. It costs $129 and the factory is out of stock until at least October. Any ideas where I can find the part I need?

A friend found a complete used Lincoln 225 at a yard sale for $50.
I would post a want ad on Craigslist or marketplace. Good chance you may find one cheaper than $130 .

Have a local kid/computer nerd 3-D print one for you.

You'd be AMAZED at what can easily be done IF you know how!

if you have the pieces JB Weld them back together.(that may get you by till you find a replacement).

I'd like to know where I can find an AC/DC welder for less than an arm and a leg. Most I see are those old Lincoln buzz bozes with the AC/DC on the old 225 frame type and alll for more than they paid for them new. Would really like to find an old Ideal arc 250 or so. Not going to travel a long ways for it either 100 miles is about as far as I want to go unless it is a real deal. Travel cost eats up a lot of savings if you have to. Some of them they want 500-1500 for that I see. Not sure if those 225 style ones would hold up well. Later cheaper made with less amperage on them. I use the 100-150 DC amp range sometimes on heavy plate or heavy iron welding jobs here. These listings are on my Miller Portable.

Out here in California the AC/DC sell for ridiculous prices too. The buzz box version can be had for around a $100. I got my old buzz box version for $60 many years ago. It was my 1st welder. Hardly ever use it since I got my MiG. But I still hang on to it.

Just the handle/knob?

Even Amazon has them.
The O.P. stated "the plastic part that moves the tap changer", so I'm GUESSING the problem goes a little deeper than the external handle.

Perhaps THIS?

I have just recently noticed that the twist knob on my 225 is getting harder to turn. I doin't use it as much as I used to. Is it possible to open it up and lubricate something?

The actual copper strips on the tap changer can be cleaned and smoothed with emery cloth. And put some grease on the serrated plastic ring and base.
