I have a 1974 HD6B s/n 40M25019 - it has run fine since I got it about 4 years ago - though the charging system has never worked.
On digging into another problem - starter? - this year, I find it has a late Alternator and is set up with a Negative Ground - all the books I can find show the HD6B has a Generator with Positive Ground.
The HD11B and others show an Alternator and Negative Ground after about 1970. I was wondering if the HD6B ever had a Negative Ground system with or without an Alternator - or did someone convert it?
And if it was converted - what is best way to get Alternator functioning and what else am I likely to have to deal with - again - tractor has always started as long as batteries were charged.
Thanks, Ed
