need help ID'ing a block

has a code of CONN 6015C and is a diesel.. any ideas what it may have come out of?

There's been lots of cussin' and discussin' of those block casting codes around here lately. You better measure the bore diameter to get an accurate determination. If it's a diesel it has to be either the 144 with a 3.56" bore or the 172 with a 3.90" bore. With that much difference (.34" or a little less than 3/8") between the 2 blocks you could measure it with a first grade student's ruler and come close enough.

I'm no expert but I did pull the head off of a 941 diesel today and it was a 172. I looked all over the archives to identify a CONN 6015C but pulled it to find out for sure.

I sure hope Alan is not talking about me.

I would be intrested to know for sure myself.
When I was doing some research on block casting #'s I did find 1 post that said the C diesel block was a 172 and wrote it off at the time because it was only one post and did not match all the other C blocks. Now RBnSC says his is a 172 also.
All the archive post I could find where C was a gas motor it was a 134.
If Ford was using the same letter for differant size blocks that is sure going to throw a wrench in telling what block you have from casting #'s.

It is for sure a diesel.. but yeah.. if ford used the same blocks for 2 diesels and a gas option.. it will be sure enough hard to pin down the details.

What about a date code? Look on the front left side of the block just above the oil pan rail.

If she is diesel.. she will have to be what.. post 59 anyway. i guess i f the date code was post 62 that would make it a early thousand series model.. instead of a later 01 series.
