Just bought a simplicity landlord mid '60s model with a 12hp briggs ,numbers on the housing next to sparkplug are M 689054 , I can find anything when I put these unmbers on google

Numbers may be stamped on widest part of blower housing just in front of carb. May need to remove paint to read.

Look for numbers on flywheel housing: Model, Type, and Code. On some OHV engines, those numbers are stamped into the valve cover. Use these numbers when ordering parts for engine. When you find these numbers, take them to the parts dealer, or any place that works on those engines, like a lawn mower shop.
These numbers do not pertain to any other part of the tractor, just the engine. RJ
