need help in identifying this rotary mower

see above photos. Trying to either find parts so gearbox can be repaired or purchase an entire gearbox.

Just a guess but I'm gonna say a Bush Hog 305 based off those pictures. They are a good heavy duty mower!

doubt bush hog 305 since mine has 2 wheels in the center of the unit and it is pull type, not 3 point

Looks like the gear lash was not right. Dress the teeth on that one gear, tighten the gears with thrust washers, put it back together and go mow. Unless a bearing went out to cause that in that case go to your bearing supply store and get a new bearing. There's nothing special about those bearings. They have one on the shelf.

The 305 came in both in both the pull type and 3 point version. I agree that most of the pull types had the wheels in the back but some came in the center. A quick Google search has your mower looking like a 305 but the mounting support around the gearbox looks different. Good luck with your bearing!

Just for giggles I searched the AG312 number and came up with a seal that mentions the "old style AG312 gearbox".
Might give them a call.

Also doubt it's a Bush Hog, they usually have a slanted back gearbox.

I have one just like it. Don't know who made it. I was at a tractor junk yard a few years ago and there was one just like it there. The gentleman who owned it said that there were 5 or 6 companies in Mississippi and Alabama who made bush hogs but he didn't remember which one made it. I replaced my stump jump pan with a king cutter one. Most bush hog parts are standard. Try Rural king they probably have one that will fit.

King Kutter still makes a pull type but it has a very different gearbox mounting than this one.

Honestly I would not put another dime in it unless you plan on building a new deck for it. That thing is worn clear through. If you keep using it, sooner or later it's going to kick up a rock which is going to come up and say "hello" in a David vs. Goliath sense, if you know what I mean.

However if you google "rotary mower gearbox" select "shopping" and flip through the options, I'm sure you'll find something that will work. If it looks right, it probably is right.

BMB, Holton KS had some gearboxes mounted that way.
