need help wiring after market tachometer

Hello,

I am trying to help some friends wire this tach. made by Veethree. someone had already replaced temp,oil,amp guages and the alternator had been replaced with a 1 wire delco
I tried to get help on the john deere forum , this goes on a jd 2040
I would appreciate any and all help

According to the link left by awhtx, this particular tach is looking for a signal of 50-305 pulses per engine revolution. Counting the ring gear teeth on the flywheel is about your only option. You'll have to figure out a way to mount a magnetic pickup in such a way that it is counting the flywheel's ring gear teeth. This may involve drilling and threading a hole in the bellhousing to accept such a sensor.
 
Most any auto or HD truck parts dealer can come up with something for you. Just tell them what you're doing, and any good parts guy should be able to help.
