Need help with John Deere 2150

I’m having I think clutch problems. When I depress the clutch pedal I can put the range selector shifter in any of low, high,or reverse but then I can not put the gear shifter in any gear without pulling on it hard. Then it will go in and try to drive the tractor but can not stop tractor without popping the shifter back to neutral. Also I can put the gear shifter in gear but then when I try to select a range it will grind gears.
It acts like the range selector side is controlled by the clutch but the gear selec side is hydraulic controlled. So do I have a clutch issue or a hydraulic issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I agree with Tx Jim but will ask, how much free play does your clutch pedal have?

probably 2-3” of pedal travel till ya feel anything. When I bought this tractor some 12 years ago the clutch was extremely tight. Took all I had to push pedal in. That loosened up overtime.

Almost certainly a drive clutch not releasing. You could adjust the clutch pedal free travel to about 1" and see if that makes a difference before you dive into the repair.
