Need Rims for Front TO-20

I have just found a front loader for my TO-20 and it seems very heavy for the skinny 1 rib tires. They are almost flat when the loader is up and nothing in the bucket.

I would like to put a set of heavey duty tires on it more like regular truck or trailer tires.

What Rims should I look for and any advise on where to get them?

Any advise on this would be very welcome

Gary, to much for me to type here but follow these instructions and you can read for a good amount of time. On the left column under RESEARCH and INFO click on Search This Site. Then in the first box type in "TO 20 front rims" then 2nd box scroll down to "Ferguson Forum" then click Search button. A lot of good reading and some tips to help you out. I am sure others will reply also but this can get you started. Richard

YEAH,I get to help instead of ask THIS time....lol....I found out the hard way w/my to35,their not UNbreakable! I have a wagner FEL on "Fergie" & I over torcked on her, lifted big bales, bucket FULL of dirt ECT.TOO many things can break, I broke the main axel(not plum off at least) & I think it had something to do w/the wormgear in the steering housing break`n also!I wouldn`t recomend too much weight on the front.1 thing advised would be weld a brace piece on yer axel on the bottom to beef it up some
Hope that helps as to a couple of Richards reasons...good luck w/yer tractor!!!

Gary,
I know this may seem like it is out of left field but, on one of these YT fora (plural of forum) someone described adapting a bush hog tail wheel to mount under the front axle carrier to carry the overload. As I recall they mounted it so that it just touched the ground with an empty bucket and carried most of the load when full. Sounds like you still need some new wheels/tires (are yours 4X19?) unless you are not running enough pressure.

I would go with 16" rims and tires. The wider the better. You need to have some kind of counter weight on the back. Wheel weights, axle weights or a drum filled with cement hanging of the 3pt hitch.

The 16" rims off a TO-30 would work just fine. Like others have said, a loader is kinda hard on a Fergie if you put too much on them, and they're pretty tough to steer without power steering.
We had an old Horn loader on ours back in the 50's. It was slow as molasses but we thought it was a lot better than a 10 tine manure fork!

Thanks to all who replied.

They were very helpful thoughts. If anyone esle has any thing more to contribute, please do.
I bent the front mounting bracket the first time I put it on and had to make a better mount system connected to to the axel-motor suport pan.I hope that works better.
I'll start to look for rims and be very careful not to try to move too much at a time.
I always liked left field ideas, I will think about the concept if you have further thoughts please add them.

I have a loader on a TO-30 and I like the wide 5 rib heavy trailer tires (on 16 inch rim). Then pump them up to the limit with as much air as you dare.
