Need to replace coil on 1953 Jubilee
Was converted to 12v and has altenator and resistor and 6v coil
Question is will any 12v coil work or does it have to be specific for ford tractors
I will take off resistor

Pretty sure a Napa IC14 12V coil is for use without a resister.

Yep, as UD said, got to NAPA, get p/n IC14SB; no resistor require.

But, the bigger question is: how did you determine that the coil is defective?

As Bruce said, how did you determine the old coil was bad? Do you have a VOM? Set to OHMS ( Ù ) one probe on coil, one probe on pigtail, should read about 1.5 OHMS give or take a few tenths, if 6V coil, double that for a 12V coil. Not an all inclusive test but will tell you if it is working correctly cold, static. Coils can go bad but you'd need ultra sophisticated, expensive test equipment to tell for sure. 99.9456% of all non-running tractors are due to mucked up wiring and most of those are from fellas trying to do their own 12V switch over job. Regardless if 6V/POS GRN or 12V/NEG GRN, if the system isn't wired correctly for the setup you're using, you will have issues.

Jubilee uses the round type coil not the square coil

Put a "NAPA 12v No External Resistor Required 905" on my Jubilee when I converted to 12 seven years ago (per the advice of the NAPA salesman). No resistor in line. All's been well.
