Needing a buzz saw sharpening setup.

Anybody know where to look for a setup to sharpen and swedge buzz saw teeth? Ive had this buzz saw for over 45yrs, and carried wood from it to the house when dad and grandad used it before I started grade school. It was grandads wedding gift to dad in 1940. They were useing it on or with a early 40s model A or B JD. Ive used it with my grandads CC Case all those years. Tried useing it with my 48 H Farmall. Cases RPMs faster. Tried useing it with my Cub. That was a joke.

When I was a kid, I remember dad setting teeth with a hammer and some 4x4 blocks to keep it up off the ground. He sharpened it right on the saw with a big file. If I had to do it now, I'd use a disc grinder, but I'd set the teeth the same way..... it ain't like it's fine carpentry, close is good enough.

I'm just glad chainsaws came into favor. I can still here that buzz saw ringing in my ears....... and scarey.

I know, chainsaws are dangerous too but that saw always made the hairs on teh back of my neck stand up.

Check one of the forestry/sawmill forums (a quick google will turn up several) for information on a swage; I'm sure that one made for a circular mill would work for a buzz saw. For sharpening, just a large bast*rd file.

If you have the blade off of the saw, you can set the teeth using a piece of railroad track as an anvil, the curve ontop of the rail is just about the right angle.If its not warn too badly , sharpen it with a good sharp file, you may have to have it gummed if its warm, look for someone with a Belsaw Sharp-All.

Dad always used a flat file to sharpen the teeth, but he had a special tool for the swedge. Looked kinda like a modified vise grip. Hmmmm, wonder what happened to that tool, haven't seen it in years.
