what do you think is up with the rear of those semi trailers? Bill

Those trailers are made that way. They are from a company called Right As Rain. They are used to store water. We've had them a the power plant where I work.
The wheels are at the very rear of the trailer and are made to be transported that way.

Those are 'portable' water/oil tanks used by the petroleum industry. The one axle carries it on the road.In use,the tank is unhooked and sits flat on site.

I know EXACTLY where that picture is taken, to the right is the Virgin river and directly behind the blue trailer to the left I saw a mule deer buck the last time I went to Las Vegas on I-15. (The trucks are in the southbound lane). I was kind of surprised as it did not look like the deer had anywhere to go.

as stated in other posts they are "frac tanks" used in the oil fied, and any other place that needs to store fluid. They are built 2 miles from my shop in WIchita Falls TX, by Wichita Tank MFG. see many of the Rain for Rent blue ones go by my office every week. at one time when things were blowing and going in this area they were building 30-40 of those a week out of 3 shops.

The trailer is made so when taken loose from the truck it will sit level and on the ground so it can hold a heavy load of liquid.
That amount of liquid would require more tires; a heavy frame rail; and mostly good solid ground for the landing gear if you used a normal height trailer.

that's why I don't recognize them., New York state where I live has banned fracking. Thanks for the updates. Bill

Saw the post late, but even without seeing the name, "rain for rent" was the first thing I thought of. One time while on the NJTPKE, my car got peppered with pea gravel, the numbskull driver never cleaned off the trailer and it was dropping these little round stones all the way up the NJTPKE, I took the plate number, trailer number and all that, when I got to the office I called and told them about it, as a former tractor trailer driver, I just had to do it, darned things were bouncing and were hitting like bullets.
