Would like to to hear comments on the 5 cylinder 5030 engine, is this a sleeved motor and any long term experiance. Thinking about a 5065M looks like nice tractor and upgraded features just unsure about the motor.

No liners(wet sleeves) according to JD web site.

(quoted from post at 09:30:12 06/06/11) Few people keep and run the engine long enough to matter if the engine is sleeved or parent bore.

Why don't they keep them? Can't keep um running? . I think a no sleeve engine shows "real progress"

This is really poor that John Deere takes thier top of the line 5 series tractor and puts a non-sleeved motor in. I know if you step up to the 5085m that comes with the 4045 4 cyl. Even thier econo. model 5065E comes with the wet sleeved 3029. Seems like they have something backwards.

I have a hunch these are marketed to the suburbanites and the hobby farmers. Given average care, it would take a long time to wear one out on 150 hours of mowing and driveway work per year.

As for the engines -
I haven't really worked on enough of these motors to get comfortable with them yet. {maybe a half dozen or so injector adjustments}

They are different. I call 'em "John Detroits" - because of the way the injectors work.
