New carb leaking

Last fall I put a brand new carburetor in my 1952 8N, hoping it was the answer to the tractor not starting. Turned out it wasn't. Since then I've had a couple of suggestions about other things to try, but hadn't had any time until this week, when I went back to it. As soon as I opened the fuel valve I noticed gas dripping from the carb. It's coming from the drain plug on the bottom. I tightened this up but it doesn't seem to be helping. Has something failed because the tractor was sitting for a year? Is there a fix for this short of replacing a brand new carb?

Try tapping on the bowl with a wooden handle. the float is probably stuck.

Ah but is it really the drain plug that leaks or maybe it is the little brass screen that is there to sort of help slow down an engine from flooding. That said it takes 3 things to make an engine run. #1 you need a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap. #2 you need fuel and #3 you need compressions and all of that has to happen at the right time. I would check your spark and also pull the air intake tube off the carb that hooks to the air cleaner and post back what you find

I think your problem is ethonol causing the viton tipped valve to hang and not to seat. don

Ethanol WILL NOT DO THAT!!!!! The viton tips are impervious to ethanol, alcohol, gasoline, etc., etc., etc.

What you need to do is put some pipe thread dope on the threads to seal carb pug . If it was the main gaskit leaking fuel a stuck float or bad vitron float valve .

OK......he has too much fuel in the bowl,or the drain plug is not sealing and it's leaking past the threads.If there is too much fuel in the bowl,the needle valve is not seating properly. don b
