New Clutch

I recently installed a new clutch on my IH 674, it works very well when tractor is cold, once it warms and been in use for a while it then will gradually quit releasing getting so bad that I sometimes have to shut engine off to get it out of gear.
Any help appreciated,

Just a thought....do you have 1" of free travel on the clutch pedal ? According to the owners manual, that is to be measured from the pedal tip straight down to the floorboard.

Try removing ALL free play from the pedal. Get it hot and try it again. If it doesn’t work, keep adjusting it until the clutch will just barely pull the tractor. If still no improvement at this point I would say you have pilot bearing issues.
If at some point the clutch finally works while tractor at operating temperature, then the integrity of the disc is suspect.
I replaced the clutch disc of my 154 Lo-Boy , but not the pressure plate (broke the center out). I had severely dragging clutch with free play set per manual. Found out later that the hinged points of the pressure plate were worn to the point that it took 90% of pedal travel before it would begin to release the disc. Just tightened it up to zero free play and left it. The pedal free play is actually within the pressure plate itself.

I often like to come in from left field on posts, maybe I would sound smarter if I said “thinking outside the box” This sounds like a symptom of a hydraulic clutch. Any chance the tractor has been modified in such a way? CNHI IH674 org. clutch Not saying it is wrong but since the pilot bearing is a ball bearing it seems fairly unlikely that would be the cause. Did you replace it when you changed the clutch?

All the parts are new, yesterday I removed some of the free play on the pedal I now have a half inch if that doesn't solve my problem I will do what is mentioned above, remove all free play.
And no hydraulic clutch.

By removing all the free play your throw out bearing will always be riding on the clutch fingers. This is not ideal it wears the clutch fingers and the throwout bearing, not to mention as it wears the clearance will tighten more and then start holding the clutch partially released. Zero is fine for a test period but if it will work with even a 1/4” would be better.

By removing all the free play your throw out bearing will always be riding on the clutch fingers. Possibly slightly warped driven disc in the clutch assembly. Possible solution is to modify the clutch "upward" stop at the footplate/or? to get a bit more freeplay. Jim

Believe it or not some of these later model CIH had/have a no free play clutch. The throw out bearing is different. I forget what else. They can be converted to a free play set up. Mark.
