Last summer I purchased a NH68 square baler. I was the only bidder at an estate auction and paid 250 dollars for it. It ran for the most part, but not very well. The main problems were loud banging noises, squealing ( despite greasing and oiling ), bad bearings, bushings that were egged out, and worn away pins. Nothing that time and money couldn't fix.
I've completed fixed almost all of the problems that it had, but there is one problem that is going to take a little bit longer to fix than expected. Part number 8 in the diagram listed below is bent to high heaven. This problem existed before I bought the baler, I found it while doing a deep dive into the inner workings. I've worked on straightening it with a press, an oxy acetylene torch and other tools, however there are still twists and whatnot proving themselves difficult to remove. ( If anybody has this part, or can point me to it, I'm in zip code 37641 )
Is this part necessary mandatory for short term usage until I can come up with a used part or some improvised solution? Has anybody had to improvise on this before?
