tractor will go in reverse in all gears. however it will not go forward in any gears. would this be the cluth and pressure plate. or could it be the lever

Not the clutch and pressure plate. Forward and reverse appear to go through the same clutch and pressure plate.

As far as the lever, you tell us. Does it feel different going into forward than reverse? Does it feel different going into forward than when it used to work? If it feels different, probably.

Assuming this a 12 X 12 synchro shuttle, my bet is you have a problem within the sychronizer itself.

Hello Gill welcome to YT! I really know nothing about
your tractors transmission. Here is a link to the factory
online parts book. I did not study them to long and I do
Id not see anything right off that says ..forward and
reverse.. to me the gear naming is a little different.
Maybe by looking at what levers and linkage move
when shifting maybe that can help you to find the
correct assembly that has to do with forward and
reverse. If by any chance you need to tear into it and
decide to do it yourself I would highly recommend
purchasing a repair manual. Hope this helps. Here is a

The following does not apply to viewing on a PC. Since
the New Holland parts site was reconfigured in early
2022 I have found that when viewing on my iPhone
expanding the diagram in the box is much clearer. This
is the ..preview.. box you see before you go into the
actual subsection that gives the diagram and the parts
list. Also holding your phone side ways lets you see
more of the site navigation links at the top by the
..Home.. button. I do not know if this applies to
Android phones.

I agree with Harry what you described sounds typical for linkage or synchronizer failure in manual type(not hyd) type reverser. I had that happen 15 yrs ago on a Kubota that had sync shuttle.
