The owners manul to the Picker should explain. The New Idea's had adjustable stands that were optional with the pulltypes. On the mounted pickers I would bet they were included in the purchase $. I dont know of anybody who left them on the tractor all year around; When 40, & 50 HP tractors were the main source of power. Nowadays they are more for show, than work. I bet there are a lot of people who dont take them off!

I donbt know where You live; but there are a few dealers around the country that buy, sell, & trade NI Pickers regularly.

Try... "external_link"
Look at "others" in the "harvesters catagory", click "New Idea", & "John Deere". There is one JD listing that shows a line of New Ideas in a picture with JD's.

I have removed and reinstalled alot of times. it is quite easy but you are right looks like you would kill your self. is the husking bed fully mounted or does it have wheels at the back? Most guys left the stands in the shed you may not have them if you bought the unit complete. If it has been on the farm for awhile look around for some stands. the husking bed come off first. then the picker on stands and you back out of it. then all of the brackets get unbolted. takes a little while. search the model # for manual. good luck

Jack, when you get yours off you wanna come by and take mine off? :D
My NI is mounted on a Farmall 450 and has been sitting in the corner of the shed for about 10 years. I live about 40 miles west of LaCrosse, you help me take it off and I'll sell it to you cheap.
