New Idea Corn Pickers

2012, an old thread, but my thoughts?? Yes, for a mounted picker, the IH 234 has stripper plates to adjust to your ear size and no shelling.. This picker does a great job. Another good picker is the John Deere 300 pull . The two or three row heads have deck-plates. Very little shelling. Good unit.

Looking at corn pickers to use this fall for harvesting ear corn to grind for my beef cattle. I've looked at a several, and I've found quite a few 324's and one 326. What is the difference between a 324 and a 326? What should a person expect to pay for one in good condition in east central MN?
Thanks
I bought my 326 last fall on AutionTime auction services, it needs some work but is 100% complete, paid $1300 USD for it located in Southern MN, I am currently looking for a parts book for the 326, series, I have not been able to find anything on the web so far, maybe someone will read our thread and respond with an idea. I also read a real good article that there is a line of corn seed that is more suitable for corn pickers than combines, its grown primarily for Amish use, have not found more on it yet, but it was a good article.

AGCO publications. These machines have the parts breakdowns included in the operator's manual. https://www.agcopubs.com/operator_manual/english/985747/326_husking_unit_for_324_325_gathering_unit_ https://www.agcopubs.com/operator_manual/english/985787/324_325_gathering_unit_2_row_pull_type_

The 2-row machines are actually assembled from two components. A 324 is a 2-row wide gathering unit. A 325 is a 2-row narrow gathering unit. 326 is the 8 roller husking bed that fits either, 327 is the 12 roller husking bed that fits either. People often mistake the ID plate on the husker as the one for the whole machine.
Thank you for clarifying

This is an old thread but you're in luck because I saw your post. 326 is the number of your husking bed. 324 is the 2-row wide gathering unit, 325 is the 2-row narrow gathering unit. Both gathering units are in the same book. You can get both manuals from AGCO publications. https://www.agcopubs.com/default.aspx?model=324&brand=44097&keywords=&searchForm=0 This is an Amish shop in Pennsylvania that makes/rebuilds New Idea picker parts and has used parts as well. https://countrymachinery.com/ They are working on an online store for parts ( blows my mind since they are Amish). Until then, you can call them and they'll help you find what you need. They will ship parts.
Thank you
