Hello folks, just signed on to pass the time. Fifty seven years of farming in the same community. Still using two of the tractors I started with so definitely been in the game through fair and poor. Got out of the cow business some time back but still raising row crops and hay.
Noticed this forum while searching for information on my latest 'project' tractor--JD 5105.

This year starts my 57th year.

5105? This tractor was purchased from an estate. Not much real knowledge other than it wouldn't start and a family member very likely bypassed the fuel filter trying to make it run again. Pulled the pump, took it to Northeast Diesel Service and found it was trashed by crud from the tank. Brand new injector pump doesn't want to prime. Plenty of fuel to the pump but none to injectors. I have a feeling the pump shut off relay isn't working correctly and had to order from dealer.
We have two other similar engines in John Deere skid steer and 53XX series tractor but haven't had this sort of difficulty with those when changing fuel filters.

I have a 5067 I purchased new with the 3 cylinder. I haven't had any trouble with it but I'm not crazy about the user friendly.

1951 FORD 8N and new Ford 4000 gas 8 speed. FWIW, Dad bought the 8N used in 1957 and I have the receipt booklet where he made monthly payments on it. We still use it in the hay field every year.
Back then, the 4000 was our 'big tractor'!!!:)

I would have though the pump shop would have checked the shut of solenoid when they had it on the test stand. It would have had to work for that.

Welcome aboard, Mo. I've got a 47 2N and a 51 WD. The N mows my lawn and the WD does all the heavy lifting - mainly dragging out logs for friends who still use wood for heat. Using and maintaining them is a joyful change of pace from my career of writing computer code and managing customer networks.

I'm in north central MO. Used to be called "The Green Hills" before out-of-staters moved in and started farming the hills.
