Thanks for adding me to group.. I recently purchased my uncle’s 1940 9N. It had/has several issues. I have it running and charging now. My 3 point doesn’t raise at all. I have been reading in forum. I added fluid. Nothing yet. It could be a stuck valve. Its been moth balled several years. My uncles we’re keeping it going. However both have passed away. So I am working without history. This is not my 1st membership to this site. I just have been here for a long time. I have a full service outdoor equipment shop, Ive operated for 35 yrs. I am semi retired now do to health. Maybe some can point me to a thread concerning the 3 point not raising it would be much appreciated. I hope I can add my knowledge to site concerning my experiences..thank you

Welcome back to YT forums and ASAP parts. There are several things to check on the hydraulic. The worst would be a failed pump or 3pt cylinder/piston mechanism. There may be a relationship to the draft control lever position. This should help some. Jim

Pretty sure the PTO needs to be engaged for the 3pt to work. My understanding is that the hydraulic pump is driven off the PTO on the Ford N tractors.

#1 the PTO has to be in gear and spinning or the 3 point will not work.
You can remove the inspection plate on the right side and see if the control is moving the control valve and or move it by hand

Don't believe those had any draft control just up or down to them could be wrong though. Yes PTO has to be engaged to use 3pt. Will drop without if shut off.

If the PTO is running and it still won't lift, drain the oil ( it probably needs changed anyway) and the control valve will be visible thru the drain plug hole. The valve should move when the lever is moved. If not, could very well be gummed up from sitting all those years in that vintage oil. Spray brake cleaner all over and around the valve and it will work free if it hasn't been submerged in water.
