New oil pump line bore issue

I TOOK MY 8n BLOCK TO THE MACHINE SHOP TO GET THE NEW OIL PUMP/CAP LINE BORED. THEY TELL ME IT’S A HIT AND MISS DEAL SOME TIMES WITH NEW OIL PUMPS, BECAUSE THERE MAY NOT BE ENOUGH MATERIAL ON THE CAP TO SET THE BORE CORRECT. ARE THEY FEEDING ME A LINE OF #$%^&, OR IS THIS TRUE.

Many/most parts offered for vintage Ford tractors are made overseas for aftermarket distributors and many/most are of questionable quality at best.

I buy most all of my parts from CNH and do, of course, pay more. This strategy has, for the most part, worked well but CNH has recently started sourcing some vintage parts from the same aftermarket suppliers.

Howdy Dean, I went to the NH site they dont have much to offer for 9,2, and 8Ns way to many parts are discontinued. I buy from this site and others and the parts are imported and its a shame we all suffer with the junk parts. The ignition parts are junk. I bought a set of Autolite plugs made in china and indorsed by NASCAR. My and your country are in deep trouble.

Mike, they are feeding you a line of #$%^&,.The main caps and oil pump can be milled off and then line bored to factory specs.

There is a limit as the gears still have to have clearance without bottoming out.

You can buy a new main cap from this sites parts store and or a new bushing for the oil pump .

If the cap needs to be ground so much that the oil pump gear is meshing too close then you need a new $100 cap .

You will need a new oil pump bushing that needs to be reemed to fit because they come undersized on porpuse for a good fit . You dont want to lose your prime or valuable oil pressure due to a sloppy bushing .
