Toolmonger Archive for May 22nd 2009 is the can't miss this hammer sweet spot by stanley. All I can say is if you miss hitting the nail you must not have drunken enough beer!

Oh well another gimmick in which to part you of your money! Woody.

I've set my share of nails always using Estwing hammers. Still have them and still like them. Stanley hammers are decent but I perfer the Estwing balance. I do find more uses for my Bostitch N88 these days though.

RobMD said "Stanley is crap. Buy Vaughan hammers." Buddy, you got that right. I"ve got two "999" 20 oz. Rip claw hammers that are over forty years old-bought "em new at Sutherland Lumber for less than $3.00 apiece. With the wood handle, I"ve built many houses with those hammers and got real good at changing handles. And so far, NO arthritis. Those Estwings WILL treat your arm/elbow harshly.

I was at a local hardware store a couple of days ago and just for the heck of it started looking at the stanley line of tools. The tools were made in about 10 different countries. Not a one was made in the USA. I guess I will look for tools at yard sales and flea markets if I want good tools, made in the good Ole US of A.
