New to 9n, need help

So I am new to my ford 9n and need some info on the workings of my tractor. I got this 9n at a deal from a friend of a friend and was told everything worked liked new. It s been converted to 12v, had new tires, ran and drove in all gears perfect, and would lift me and a friend on the lift arms no problem. So I buy the thing and now that I have it here where I can hook the implements behind it, it will not lift them. I have a 5ft box blade, 4ft bush hog, a bottom plow and disc, which all of my grandfather used behind a 8n years ago. When I hook up the box blade for example, I hook up the bottom 2 lift arms it will lift fine, but once I hook up the top link it may get it off the ground a inch and just starts bouncing up and down. It does the same thing with the other implements also, so would this be a internal lift issue or is it something that could be fixed with a shorter or longer top link

I'd say something is wrong in your hitch setup. Post a picture of the box blade with all points attached.

Number one you have a 8n not 9n. there will be a mall position control lever under right side of seat. try moving it to different position, up or down.
looks like you have the top link hooked to the top position in the rocker. can't tell from photo, if you can move to bottom position it might help/

I thought it was a 8n when I purchased it because of the 4spees
transmission but it only has the lift control and the pto lever from what
I can see

Yeah, clutch pedal is up and pto is switch on. I can unhook the top link and it will lift all the way up, lower it and hook up the top link and it won?t lift

Someone may have replaced the top cover with one from a 9n or 2n. at this point it is above my paygrade. Goodluck.

How is the oil level? When you do that, with just the lift arms connected, it isn't lifting much weight. I expect the blade, or other attachment, remains on the ground, and only kind of rolls up at the connection to the arms as they lift. It is only lifting the weight of the attachment when the top link is connected, as well as the lift arms. If the top link was the wrong length, or wrong location, it would lift out of level but should lift more than an inch. I have to wonder about an internal issue.

The oil level is good. And without the top link it will pick the whole
blade off the ground no problem, but hook it up and it will just shake
as it tries to lift

If I were you, I would get a fo-4 service manual and have a read. lot of info on how it all works or should work. be interesting to see inside the right side inspection panel and see what the linkage looks like.

your hook up looks ok as far as I can tell I ran into a situation where the top link was pushing in on the big spring which is the draft control if its pushed in it wont lift it goes into float I believe

Loosen the 4 bolts holding the quadrant/touch control lever assy to top cover & slide the assy rearward and try lift again. The 4 holes are slotted as can be seen in one of your pictures

I wonder what its going to be moving under that cover

expect that you pretty much know it will be the top of the lift control fork (9/2N) or top of lift control arm (8N). My first guess is the former, but could be the latter, as Cary* has on his tractor..
