Looking to get a new yard tractor. We have 15 acres. Basically used for moving downed trees, boulders, general yard stuff. Looking at 25hp. Currently looking at all manufacturers, but concentrating on BadBoy, Kubota, BobCat, NewHolland, LS. ANY input Greatly appreciated!

Having a well established dealer with a good service and parts department with a good reputation would be the most important thing with any equipment purchase. Also talking to real owners of the brands you are looking at to get their opinions of them, the good and the bad.

This is what I am hoping to get here. We do not know any owners of any of these personally. Just looking for opinions and honest good/bads on any specific model and why.

Since you're new here and sounds like you're actually looking for a compact tractor, you would get more opinions on these brands and models if you posted your question in the 'Tractor Talk' section, more people will see it and respond there. This section is more geared towards the smaller lawn and garden lawnmowers. And welcome to the forums!

If you plan to keep it for several years, consider dealer/seller/factory support. Any tractor made under contract, like BadBoy for instance, by a factory not owned by the dealer network, may suffer from parts support loss when the contract ends. There have been many examples in the past.

Kubota and JD do not have that risk associated with them, that's all I've got to say.

JD does some with the Yanmar built tractors, not all the parts were the same as the Yanmar tractors built at the same time. But, Yes, many tractors built today come from the same factory for a lot of brands, even JD's....James

Modern 25 HP tractors do not have the weight (iron) of older 25hp tractors. Even Kubota and their light duty rear axle housings. It is nice to have modern 4wd. Loaders and pulling logs need a heavy (for their size) tractor. Don't buy a step through model for that, although they sell them, they are not strong enough for heavy use. Handy mower tractors and light duty loader use, though....James
