New Tractor

Morning my friends. I've almost got my house paid for and I always said I would buy me a new tractor when I did. I've got several tractors right now that I use mainly a 3000 Ford diesel. I've got a MF 230 that I've rebuilt the motor on and have to put back together. I bought a 3000 Ford gas in pretty good shape that is only suppose to need a water pump and another 3000 diesel for parts. I've got a 640 that belonged to my dad that I'll keep. I'm getting older and was wanting a cab with heat and air, radio and loader. I've got 11 acres that I mow and cut some small places for friends and neighbors. After I get the new one I'll sell some of the others when I get them going. Sorry for the long post but what brand size and everything would you recommend for my needs and wants. I've never owned a brand new vihicle and I guess I could use a used tractor. What do you guys and gals recommend or what to stay away from. Thanks in advance and have a blessed day.

Stay away from those foreign store brand camouflage paint things. You'll get NO service on them. They'll be like owning a Belarus was thirty years ago. Buy one, and two years later, they were sitting in a fence row. Ask around, see which local dealer gives the best service and go there.

Well this is me, I a caseih guy now but also have case and IH tractors. I getting older and retirement not to far out. Some years back I started buying power shift tractors and have had good and bad with them. Now looking at a few more as I going back to tillage part of the time. Anyway I can work on gear transmission better then power shift so the next 2 I buy going to standard gear. Then others thing I can fix a gear tractor a lot cheaper then a power shift. Good luck

Really need to know what size you are considering. If looking at compact utility tractors, Kubota builds the smallest cab tractors with HVAC. Most below 45 hp or so don’t have AC.

I have a B2650 Kubota that does everything I ask of it. 60” belly finish mower, 5’ bush hog, 52” snow blower, and 52” Harley rake are the main implements I use it for. I would probably find the loader a bit anemic, but I don’t have one as I have an industrial loader available.

I would have liked the 3350, but that has emissions controls, and under 27 hp does not.

What Moresmoke said. I've had my B2650 for 10 years and the only (minor) complaint I have is that the loader is a bit underpowered, but that keeps me from doing stupid stuff with it and tearing up the tractor.

And same comment about the 3350. They had nothing but problems with the diesel emissions stuff on them, don't know if they ever solved the issue(s) or not.

A new tractor with the name of Deere, Kubota, Massey, New Holland, or CaseIH will hold its value better than a lesser-known brand. If you're buying new this might be something to consider. All of these "big name" companies sell good tractors and you can't go wrong with any of them. When it comes right down to it utility tractors are quite similar regardless of brand and really only differ in the details. If it were me looking for a new tractor I would see what dealers are in my area, ask for some demos, and see which of the differentiating details you prefer. If a local dealer gives you the cold shoulder because you're looking at a $20,000 tractor instead of a million dollar combine I'd move on. A dealer that truly cares about the small tractor customer will typically have a good inventory of them on his lot.

Stay old enough to not have the emission crap on it. they just ad to the cost with no real benefit to you. Now all the tractors under a 100 HP have been mad out of the country for a few decades now so that now begins a lot of dispute by some even though their JD IH or what have you is made aroad. Now if you want a loader on it then pony up for the MFWD it will be ight and day with any bad going or plowing snow if you have that. Forgt about those junk gas engines and stick with the diesel. They make heaters for them so winter starting in cold weather is not an issue anymore. Transmission is up to you though the convenience of Power shift and all is nice the gears are easier to fix and will be a cheaper deal on older tractors. Hydors are nice for many jobs like a tiller or baling though not that big of a deal if you have several gears like in the newer tractors versus the old fords with go and step on it speeds in them. LOL I would also probably stay away from all the foreign tractors by company.Another words the long, Same and such,Belarus all would be more problematic for parts availability, than the major US companies like IH,Allis and such. Though Deere went back about 30 or so years and reused all the old part numbers over so you might get a line for a newer tractor when you want a clutch disk for a 3010 or something like that. I've heard the dealers complain about that even with the tractor model in there. Gong bigger rather than smaller will make you happier than going the other way around so if you think you need 50 HP a 60or 75 will be more joy then going with 35to settle with. you will always be kicking yourself for not buying the bigger one.
