new valve guides

I am replacing the valve guides, springs, keeper's, and lifters in my 47 2N 6 volt front mount. Am having trouble getting the valve guide with the valve stem seal back in the block. Is there a trick to it? There were no valve stem seal's when I took them out.

You do know that the seals only go on the intakes don't you? Measure the O.D.of the guides,I.D.of the bore. Make sure there is a clearance[should be listed in manual].---lha

Yes, but there were none on the intakes. PO did some engine work because it has ajustable lifter's, not the original solid.
I will try what Bob suggested, and try the dish soap. I had tried the grease, didn't work.
Thank's for all the help.

The only place they will hang is the opening of the intake port,,, work them past the port with a screwdriver... I lube'em with silicon dielectric compound,,, its some slick chit...
Even if you cut them a tad installing them don't worry about it...
