NH 276 Baler

I have a NH 276 square baler that is making a metal clicking noise. Its not in the pickup or plunger, I think its coming from the packing arm. It does it in the same place everytime but only when hooked to the tractor. It will not make the noise when rolled by hand. Its two loud sharp grinding / popping metal noises. I can not find what is making this noise and I have experience with square balers??? The baler is in time. the plunger rollers are fine. Chains are tight. It makes the noise when the plunger is all the way back toward the tractor.

Have you checked gear box oil level, also a big possibility is your crank bearing is going out.To check crank bearing roll flywheel over to bring crank up and you go from there as they do go out as there are sealed bearings.Scott

Its fine. The packing arm is rubbing a bar that is above the plunger. I believe the rollers are worn out or the piece that attatches it to the chain. Hard to replace?

Perhaps the linkage to the safety stop got worn or out of adjustment and the crank to the plunger is nicking the stop. Look for marks on the edge of the stop.
