NH 518 spreader

Just saw an ad for a NH 518 manure spreader. Ad is a little short on info. How big and how old is a 518? Just wondering if it's worth my time to go look, as my 1287 Gehl is acting up again...

The 518 is from the late 70"s, replaced by the 519. I think it was the biggest single-axle spreader they made at the time, but not sure of the exact size. We had a 513 - one size smaller than the 519. Not a bad spreader I guess, but the axle is a U-shaped stamping that holds water/manure and will rust through eventually and break. When ours broke, I made the decision that day to sell the cows and quit milking. Not that a manure spreader should be that influential, but for me it was the straw that broke the camel's back!

i had a 519, which i think was around 220 bushels. that was 25-30 years ago. 518 was similar size.
otherwise, lfc covered the axle issue. i would think most 518/519s would be whooped by now, unless a horse farm had it. good luck.

Thanks, guys. With potential axle problems like that, plus its age, I think I think I'll save my time and gas money - someone else can have that one.
