NH 853 Baler pickup problems

Anyone ever have problems with the wide pickup on a New Holland big baler?

I can't see anything wrong with it, yet it will make a catching noise, then a bang and it will shear the overload bolt. This is with the baler empty. All cross bars on the apron are in good shape as is the tension on the apron chain.

Hi Brad,

The oversize bale safety has probably kicked in. Reset your trip.

It'll keep shearing that bolt until the linkage is manually reset.

Allen, its not the overload safety causing he problem, it was ok.

I did take end tine covers off the right side of the wide pickup where the cam followers are. Found one missing bolt and two others that were not tight where the tine shafts are joined together. It's actually pipe on one side and L channel on the other.

I believe it had actually allowed it to bind enough to cause it to catch, one of the cam bearing holders were slightly bent.

Haven't went back to the field yet to see if solved the problem.....

Yep,

That would do it. Pickup just flat couldn't turn.
