NH 853 baler

Has anyone ever used an 853 baler with 'net-wrap'? I would like to hear what you thought of it. Did you have problems starting the bale if the swath had been raked? I have been told that this is a problem and would like to know if it is so and what can be done about it. Also, is it annoying that you can't use twine, ever?
Thanks

I've never used an 853 specifically, but did some baling years ago with an 848 which is basically just a smaller version of the same thing.
I've never heard of net wrap on either one, but mabey it was available.

The balers worked decent enough beyond that. Not my pick for a baler to own because of all the moving parts in them that rattle and clunk around all the time.... there are a LOT of moving, wearing parts. But... beyond that I can't say that they had too many limitations in what they would bale. Might be the odd problem starting a bale in VERY dry hay, but nothing insurmountable. They will basically bale anything you put in front of them, raked or otherwise. They just do't make the nicest bale in comparison to a modern belt type baler and they're a higher maintenance machine... but for a good enough price, one should do what you want.
If you ask on the Impliment forum, Allan often responds to questions about the chainers. Seems to love em, and he can probably tell you all about them.
