"No political comments"- really?

Can someone with some respected status here tell the new guy (ME) why some folks post their political ideology here when it states directly over this posting window "NO POLITICAL COMMENTS?"

I sure love to read most of the posts here, but sure as he\\ don't need to read someones opinion why a law in their state is "racciss."

I'm gonna guess they aren't talkin tractors at cnn ot huff po, so please take your politics elsewhere!

You need to go and read just how many posts on here are only tractor related. This place would be about as interesting as watching paint dry if it was for off topic threads! Heck dead of winter when the tractors are mostly in sheds most often you may see one or 2 tractor related post per day.

Here's an idea! If it ain't tractor related you don't have to read it!

As you can see, this "tractor" forum covers many aspects of everyday life...maybe because for many of us, this forum is part of our everyday lives. And historically, talking politics or religion (or any of a number of other subjects) tends to get a few folks really riled up. Then others get riled up. Next thing you know, there's a whole lot of anger going on.

It's not so much that these subjects aren't allowed, but rather the unwanted anger and outbursts associated with them.

Politics, religion, etc, etc, etc..., are a part of ALL of our lives. It's the world around us. Trying to keep it out would be....well, bad for business. But as long as folks can come here and keep it relatively civil and cordial, then there's really no problem.

....At least this is how I see it. *lol*

Well I’ll try to explain it using my slant on it. Some folks just can’t resist making negative comments about people who don’t think the same way they do and politics is the #1 Avenue they use. It does upset me when some posters use very defamatory descriptions about the folks who are on the side of politics they don’t agree with. It just seems so sophomoric to me.

YNM, I probably don't have the "respected STATUS here" that you are looking for, and I don't know what all this is about some political thread and people getting kicked off, I seem to always miss those, but I bet that your problem is your browser. I am on modern view, and when I scan the titles of threads, it tells me right there before I click on it what the thread is about. So I just scan through and open one here and there that looks like something that I am interested in. So maybe if you took your 'puter to the 'puter store they could help you to get yours so that you can tell what it is about before you open it.

people have opinions and like to air them and in spite of the policy often go ahead and post them. the trouble comes from posters who begin to flame others with bad language, and nasty comments. then it has to be shut down but if civliity can be maintained then ....maybe some comments are allowed.

Well, John, not to worry: I see both houses of the Legislature have passed a bill to eliminate non-unanimous jury verdicts. Governor will sign, and then it takes a Constitutional amendment approved by the voters to make unanimous verdicts law.

No question racism still exists here, but maybe not so much as in the past. Most of what we see as racism is really 'ethnocentrism'--we tend to prefer association with people who are most like ourselves. Without getting into specifics, I will say that that cultural gap is narrowing--in some cases for the better, and in some, for the worst.

Yes Jerry all is well.

I think our big problem now is Edwards and the Legislature fighting over that penny sales tax that expired.
Seems Edwards goes after the high scare tactics like TOPS and nursing homes to get his way.
If the Legislature holds fast like they did in the last special session this could get interesting.

1. This post is a bit offensive. Not that I care enough to report it, just that I can tell from the commentary your dander is up, after reading post #1 and this. Most people don't like being talked down to, just a suggestion to maybe lighten up.

2. The entire thread is not where it belongs. If you would go to forum index, and look down near the bottom there is a 'support' header. Under that you will find 'site comments'(which is exactly where this thread should go.

But - I'm someone with no respected status, and that's the way I like it. Have a nice day.
