NO Reason for Drain plug problems

I have seen so many post on froze drain plugs and I always forget to say after I suggest removal methods and you get them out clean and inspect female threads, chase them as needed, throw the male in the scrap barrel. Replace with new plugs with a slather of your favorite Never-Seize. Plugs only need to be snugged not gall welded on.

nstalling without a gasket & then tightening to stop a leak is the reason so many are 'stuck'.

Sometime I fail to see the forest for the trees.Dont forget your gaskets(where needed) guys.

yep.. and/or glueing them on with some gasket shelac, instead of a gasket.

done a few I busted removing that were glued on.

some I had to heat with a torch to burn the glue off.

why some people like adhesives in those places makes me wonder.

reminds me of that crankshaft pulley on my farmall C.

I busted the pulely pulling it , even using a backing plate. found ?jbweld? int he pulley hub, and figured the rank nose was undersized and worn.. NOPE.. some idjut just decided to glue it on...

new one went one with neverseize..

I like to put a coat of never-seize on the drain plug gaskets as it helps to snug it up smoothly and prevents sticking when removing the plug.
