While I’m waiting for batts to charge I thought Id offer a couple of tricks I learned 40 yrs ago when I worked in a fab shop.
1. HF roller works fine on 1/8” flat stock and can be adjusted to the correct radius.
2. Cut a piece of steel flat stock to the correct patch size. For me I used 1/8” x 3/4” and cut my patch holes to a tight fit. I used a couple of 2” patches and two 4”+ and a lot of holes.
3. Cut another piece of 3/16” x 3/4” and roll it out too. Now you use the aluminum in the inside of the wheel held tight with a pair of large mouth vice grips. This is good to hold your patch while tacking and also when filling small holes. MIG weld won’t stick to aluminum. It’s also good for a back up for holes and they don’t enlarge so bad once they have a backing.
