Northern Tool Return Policies

If Your Products Arrived Damaged
Before contacting Northern please call the carrier that delivered your package within 24 hours of receipt. Northern cannot accept responsibility for damage incurred after a customer has signed for delivered products in good condition.

Products must be returned within 45 days of receipt for refund or exchange.
Products must be unused or defective to be returned. There may be a 15% restocking fee for products that do not meet these conditions.
Factory shipped products may be subject to a 15% restock fee.
Factory shipped products require approval from the manufacturer and are not returned directly to Northern.
Processing your return via mail will take 2-4 weeks.
Refunds are for the cost of the products only.
Return Exceptions:

Gas and diesel-powered products cannot be returned to Northern once they have been gassed or oiled. If they have been gassed or oiled they need to be taken to an authorized service center for repair which may be covered under warranty.
Non-returnable items: NorTrac equipment, gang reels, winches, reconditioned forklifts, surface cleaners, books, DVDs, CDs, videos, blueprints, clearance and electronic auction items.
How-To Return Online, Catalog, and In-Store Purchases
Northerntool.com orders can be returned for any reason within 45 days of receipt. You can return your order to any Northern Tool store or Northerntool.com.

1. Returning Northerntool.com & Catalog Purchases
Option #1: Return to a Northern Tool + Equipment store.

Products purchased online, by phone or catalog may be returned at your local Northern Tool + Equipment store. To expedite your return at the retail store, be sure to bring your packing slip, order #, OR valid return authorization number (obtained through our customer service department) with you along with your product for return. Find a store near you.

Option #2: Return to Northerntool.com via phone, chat or email.

Call Customer Care for a return authorization number.
Call Customer Care at 1-800-222-5381. Customer Care hours are 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM CT, Mon - Fri 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM CT, Sat.

Chat with an online Customer Care agent for a return authorization number.
Customer Care hours via chat are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM CT, Mon - Fri. Start chatting by clicking the yellow "Chat" tab found in the lower right-hand corner of the browser window.

Email us to receive a return authorization number.

Repackage and relabel.
Refer to the return form printed on the back of your invoice, and write down the return authorization number in the space provided. Use the return form as a new shipping label. Apply it to the original box or use a sturdy substitute to ship products. You may choose whichever shipping carrier you wish.

2. Returning Northern Tool Store Purchases
Purchases made at a Northern Tool retail store must be returned to the Northern Tool store or another nearby store. See the Northern Tool return policies for more details.

Bought a combination wrench set for my grandson last year. They seemed to have a nice feel to them. Watch for ads with discount coupons in them. We are on their mailing list and get them regularly.

I have a few not many they are ok.... Keep your receipt they will ask for it as their way out of the deal... Those receipt do faded like lowes I think they do that on purpose...

I think they are a level with Husky and Kobalt and even Craftsman... they are not Snap-on quality... but they aren't Snap-on priced either..

For the average home owner, weekend wrencher they are a good buy and I think they are lifetime warranty on workmanship...

I'm still partial to old CM raised panel and like Proto and USED flea market snap-on... My serious wrenching days are about over, so I'm not looking to make major investments in the name brands any longer.

I believe that Kluth is NT store brand. I have bought some tools and have been well satisfied.

Have looked at them many times at Northern Tool. Can't find a thing wrong with them.

It doesn't take NASA technology to make a decent hand tool and there's no reason to pay hundreds of dollars for a set of wrenches. Even if you DID use those tools as a professional mechanic, they'd last many, many years.

When I was 12 years old, I bought a socket set at a flea market. I wanted my own tools even then and my father had almost no metric tools, so I go my own socket set. It was made in Taiwan and it cost $12 after I beat the vendor down from his $15 asking price.

That socket set has been in my tool box ever since and I have fixed thousands of things with it. Only in the last few years, 30+ years after I bought it, have I had to replace a few common sockets because the set is 12 point and the sockets were wearing out on the points.

If Taiwan could make a socket set that good 35 years ago, I think you'll be just fne with Klutch tools today.

Here?s my John Deere 3/4 drive ratchet with a 10
foot cheater pipe on it loosening track pads on the
420c I also have quite a few harbor freight tools in
my box I use them almost everyday and they serve
me well . I just don?t know how well I like the idea of
having to send a tool back to the company for
warranty

Receipts that I want to keep get scanned and saved as a pdf file.

Never had a problem with the stores accepting my scanned receipts.
