I have always wanted a borescope to see inside just about anything the camera will fit into. Maybe could have found that wrench I dropped in my transmission, years ago. Anyway for under 35.00 dollars, what can go wrong, now I have one. It came today. right out of the box, I just hit the on button, and the screen lights up, and shows what I am pointing the flexible cable at. No programing at all, like I said just turn it on. It came with a charging cable also. Stan

Can look under the sofa, might find a quarter. Or a French fry. I was able to find and extract a small part that had fallen into the transmission of my Model T Ford I used to own. Saved the gears.

I have a camera that uses your phone and you can “borescope” your ears. Works great.

I have one for my cellphone.

One time I used it to see what was in a burrow. At the bottom was a coach whip snake. It came out of burrow while scope was still down there, to the entrance, it saw me and froze still hoping I did not see him. Then I moved a bit and he shot out of there and skedaddled.

Another time I was scoping another burrow a bit bigger than a woodchuck hole. I could see the front end of a Gopher Tortoise and he did not like this one devil eyed intruder coming in and he bit the camera and hung-on for about 20 seconds before letting go so I could leave him be.

I have 2. One is a Ridgid that I got used for $60. Has a 2” screen. When I got it I thought it was great. Then I found one on Amazon for $40 that works with a phone or iPad. The iPad setup is superb. With the wide screen you can see a very large area with way better quality image. One good thing about the Ridgid is the flex hose to the camera. You can place in position a little easier than the cheap one. The Amazon model has only a wire going to it.

The last one I got has a 3.9mm HD camera head, so tiny it fits through diesel glow plug holes. Has it's own display which I prefer to one that uses a phone and (spying) app. If I'm using a borescope I'm probably working on something where damaging my $$$ phone would suck but the entire borescope setup is like $60 so much more disposable if damaged.

I have two rigid glass borescopes. I got them when I was doing safe and vault work. Try manipulating a combination lock through a 1/4" hole behind 3 or 4 inches of steel! One is 7", the other 17". About $1,500 for both back in 2000.

I have two rigid glass borescopes. I got them when I was doing safe and vault work. Try manipulating a combination lock through a 1/4" hole behind 3 or 4 inches of steel! One is 7", the other 17". About $1,500 for both back in 2000.

I brought the first one I saw off the snap-on truck it cost to be the first one on the block to buy. The demo they used you looked into a White PVC pipe it looked great. It never worked as advertised and would eat batteries UP! I have loaned it out and told them they would have to buy a pack of batteries. I always got the extra batteries back when they returned it. The things that happen when you buy a new never seen expensive tool like this its always been this way the dealer goes out of businesses and you are stuck with it. About a year later you can buy it new off the net for haft what you brought it off the snap-on truck are for $40 off of amazon ebay etc. This has happen a many a time but I was the first one to have one : ). Some will never understated playing mechanic is hard when you see something that will make life so much better you buy it life is good.

When a new dealer shows up he's out to prove he will look after you. He sent the camera back they repaired it, it does not eat batteries up anymore But its not a good scope so $400 wasted : (...... They have been out long enoufh now for those that waited you can get one cheap.

Whenever somebody starts a thread with "my tractor engine is seized, how do I get it unstuck?", the first thing they should use is a borescope to inspect the cylinder walls. If the can on the exhaust has been nonexistent, they would know immediately.
I have one. Not a high dollar one, but it's paid for itself a few times. A few high-dollar mechanics I know have borrowed it.
Sometimes, it's worth it's weight.
