O.T - Stihl Weedeater

I was using my Stihl FL-45 Weedeater and the head locked up tighter than a Bull's butt in fly season. I can't even remove the nut that holds the spool on. The Weedeater runs great, just the head is locked up. Any suggestions?

If its like my john deere the treads are reversed (righty loosey)...

I wish, but I've removed the spool many times. I'm guessing there is a gear down there that has locked up. But still why can't I loosen the retainer bump knob?

I've got one like yours. It's been a good cutter, and I've never had a problem with it, however if you've had the nut off before and can't get it off now, then I think I'd take a vice grip to it and get tough with it. I do believe there is a plug on the lower head that should be removed and greased occasionally..... Lack of lub may be your problem..... Which reminds me I need to grease mine soon. Good luck.
