OBD Code scanner recommendation

I bought the BlueDriver dongle and it has provided far more information than I can understand. Works with your smartphone. Has done an amazing job! My only problem is, my newest vehicle is a 2004, so not nearly as many sensors as on newer vehicles. But BlueDriver even has Live Data and Mode 6.

I bought the mid-grade OTC and I like it. I think it was about $50. It'll read ABS and Trans codes. The low-end ones only do engine.

Have three scan tools. The last is a Foxwell and I like it that I can do most of what I need to do. Having said that this one will not turn solenoids on or of or control switches but you can get deep enough in the transmission and the body control modules to see what they are doing. So it depends on what you need to do. The person I bought this one from is a good friend and he need one tha can reset newer functions on imports like battery life reset and backing electric brake adjusters down for replacement.

If all you want is a cheap code reader I bought one of these at Walmart and use it about once a week to clear a code that keeps popping up on my Tahoe - I hate having the check engine light on:

HyperTough HT309 OBD2 Scan Automotive Diagnostic Tool Code Reader

The one I bought at Harbor Freight worked once then refused to recognize it was plugged in. The HyperTough is a pretty basic reader that is easy to use.
