It was the voltage regulator in the alternator, the voltage was yo-yoing and when it hit the down swing the coil wasn’t getting enough juice and died out.

that is funny, it will only die if the battery goes dead. a non charging alternator does not make a tractor stop. unless the battery has no life left in it. and with a magneto you need no battery to run a tractor, as an example also. give more info as to what you are referring to. was the battery dead when the tractor stopped ??? i was thinking past the fancy lingo. if you posted the battery reading when it stopped would be of great help. and when it stops feel the coil, hot coil is a no good coil or a 6 volt coil. and if the battery was dead then its a self explanatory situation,.. just charge the battery. very confusing post... runs for 1-5 minutes and stops, well a battery dont go dead that fast. your good for days with a non charging alt.
