got up and took care, or rather, started to take care of a bunch of odds n end projects that have been stalled ..
finished servicing my 950 and 5' hog, included clean and regap of points and hog lube+ blade sharpening.
made a round around the pasture to knock down some weeds and test out that carb rebuild. worked fine.
mowed the weeds down in the yard.. put her up.
next, pulled my old drill press out of the junk pile. it's chuck had locked up and i was unable to seperate it from the tapered mandrel at the time. it was an older box store unit anyway.. so I replaced it with another box store unit.. decided to take another crack at it today.. used 2 chissles and with a lil work popped the chuck okk. it will adjust albiet difficult to do so.. and won't open all the way, though will close.. put it in a jar and liberally oiled it with penetrant oil then made a coctail of some kerosene and paint thinner and a lil light machine oil. will let it set in that a few days ( probably till next weekend ).. then see what she will do. rest of the press is in working order.. etc.
dug thru my spares box and found a 241 repop carb in bag I had picke dup as a spare.. all ready to go.. then found the old 241 off my 8n that I had swapped uears ago with a tsx 33 as the idle needle broke off and i didn't want to mess with it. got it on the bench as well as the carb off my 660. have it apart and cleaned, just waiting on another gasket. I templated the halves and manifold to carb gasket on appropriate gasket paper and just need to set down with the magnifiers, hole punch and razor knife and cut them out.
that 660 carb should be ready to go. I've had it apart 3 times now to rebuild it.. .. this last time I found some crud I missed, and I also lapped the original needles to their seats with fine grind compound and help from a toothpick.. then cleaned it up. looks good.. keeping my fingers crossed.
once that one is done I'll tackle the 8n carb. not sure how i want to go about removing that broke off idle needle. it broke flush.. gonna be a pita..
