In the February issue of Toy Farmer, there is a picture of an "original 1930 John Deere General Purpose cast-iron tractor". It represents a narrow front tractor that Deere did not build until 1934.
We have all seen the off-shore built cast iron copies of Bob Gray's unstyled John Deere 'A' (or 'G'). Bob built a few of his tractors in the early '70s, and they are easily identified from the copies that are all over the place. The copies have been 'aged' and are often sold as 1930s toys.
Was there ever a toy like that made in the '30s? I am only aware of Vindex and Arcade from those days.
